Karen Speerstra

Karen Speerstra is a veteran writer, editor and expert on feminine spirituality. Her new book Sophia The Feminine Face of God: Nine Heart Paths to Healing and Abundance, was more than 20 years in the making. When publisher Michael Wiese asked her if she had anything in the works for his new imprint, Divine Arts Media, the book began taking shape.

After teaching high school English and Speech in her home state of Wisconsin, Karen married a Lutheran pastor and soon became the mother of two sons, Joel and Nathan. As a freelance writer she wrote numerous articles, booklets, card sets, children's religious curriculum and poetry. She spent 10 years writing weekly regional and national newspaper columns, then entered the college text and professional book publishing world. In this realm she acquired and developed books in music, art, humanities, photography, film, broadcast, and a line of forward-thinking business books. From 1987 to 1999 Karen served as editorial manager at Butterworth-Heinemann, a company under the Reed-Elsevier umbrella, dividing her time between England and Boston.

Karen's books include Green Devotional: Active Prayers for a Healthy Planet, The Earthshapers, Divine Sparks and Hunab Kue: 77 Sacred Symbols for Balancing Body and Spirit. Karen works with a select number of clients through her writing and publishing service, www.sophiaserve.com. Karen and her husband John live in Vermont's Green Mountains. In addition to writing she enjoys gardening and being active in politics and music. Learn more at www.divineartsmedia.com.
